Wip,Christmas gifts

Today I am linking up with Lee at Freshly Pieced, I have been bust finishing up Christmas gifts and of course starting 2 new quilts... The first project is the boxy bags.

I have been making so many I had to order more zippers.I found a great shop on Etsy, Zipit. fast delivery and great prices.
I also started a Round and Round quilt by Thimble blossoms. I picked up several charm packs of Santa's Little Helpers by Erin Michael for Moda.

I could not resist using the sock patterned fabric for the background. This quilt will probably be used by my grand daughter as she picked the charm pack and is helping me make it.
And last but not least I have been whipping up these quick hot mats. I used 10" squares and they are big enough to use to set a pot/pan on,if you used a little smaller square they make great hot pads.
Here is a link to a tutorial on how to make these. they work up super fast and everyone ya know needs one or two.
Hop over and check out what other quilters are making. Merry Christmas and Happy,Happy,Happy New Year to you and yours.

WIP#19

Hello. Today I am linking up with Lee at Freshly Pieced.
I have way more projects going on than I have photographed, plus some are for gifts so I better keep under wraps.
First I have seen these little baskets all over the internet and finally decided to make a few. I found the tutorial at Pink Penguin. They are so cute and easy to make.

I have  been seeing the puddle jumping quilt by Camille Roskelly in Instagram and just had to use up some of hoarded Valentines Day fabrics for it.
This block is going a lot faster than my lone star of paradise, which has been packed away until after the holiday sewing and events... too many pieces to risk getting lost in the shuffle.
Thank you for stopping by, have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

More Works in Progress

Hello! Thank you for stopping by. I have been working on just one project this week. Mainly because this block contains quite a few pieces and  I would not want to lose any. This block is called the Lone Star of Paradise. The pattern is from Little Miss Shabby blog

I am using Vintage Modern, Scrumptious, and Marmalade all by Bonnie and Camille.
This block requires a lot of HST's and as I sew each one I resew the corner and have another  HST to save for later. My daughter was trimming the dog ears off them for me and decided to lay them out on my design wall. Now I am sure she will decide something different before she decides to sew them up.
I just love the versatility of HST's they can be laid out in many different ways.
I am linking up with Lee at Freshly Pieced. Please hop over and check out what other quilters are making.
Thank you for stopping by.

Wip

Hello, Thank you for stopping by. I have been working on all sorts of projects in different stages of completion. First I have been working on quilts for donation. I got the inspiration for the star from hopeful home maker, scrappy swoon along. I used 3" squares and it made a nice baby quilt.

I am also working on a commissioned quilt. I just had to do huge triangles.
I am really loving the big blocks.this is a 24" churn dash for the back of my boys quilt.. I think I better get it put together and get quilted soon. I just love how it is so big compared to my sewing machine.I can cover a lot of ground quickly this way.
And since we are in Houston, I had to go to Quilt Festival.. I must say WOW to all the quilts and artists who created them.
What would a trip to festival be without picking up some goodies?
I picked up the quick curve ruler.. Oh the beautiful quilts can be made using it..I have only used it once with it so far,.. mainly to show my hubby how it works.
I plan on making a quilt with it as soon as I clear off my plate. Since I am addicted to triangles and hexagons I had to try a twirling pattern.
And as a bonus when cutting triangles you get another set to use in another quilt.
And last but not least I had to start a lonestar of paradise block. I found the pattern in supersized at Little Miss Shabby.
I am using out of a few of my fabrics by Bonnie and Camille.
I am linking up with a bunch of other great quilters sharing their beautiful projects at Freshly Pieced

Quilts for Charity

In the last week I have been working on a few quilts to donate to our local Ronald McDonald house.
I Have fallen in love with the large churndash block. This one is for a boy using the 18" block

I have also started a patchwork star. I really love the visual impact.
My  new cat has taken her place as fabric and quilt inspector.Although she was asleep on the job.
My daughter has decided on her quilt design, she picked HST's UGH me... but at least she is cutting, marking and trimming dog ears for me.

Shhhh. she is really concentrating on that 4 7/8 mark. Now if she can figure out how she wants to lay them out.

And lastly, a picture of my sewing angel. that way I never sew alone.
She has been staying real close to my Kona card, I think she really likes solids.
I am linking up with freshlypieced. hop on over and see the other beautiful projects in various stages.
Thank you for stopping by.

Works in Progress

Hello! I must say I have quite a few works in progress. I see so many projects on Instagram and Pinterest
that I just have to start new quilts. Slowly but surely I am working them to finished stage.
First up I had to start a rolling diamond quilt.

All that lacks are the final borders.
Next I just had to to try a hexagon star quilt using 60' triangle method.
I am loving this method. so much easier than sewing triangles onto the hexies.
After seeing all the random star quilts, I just had to pull out some squares I had cut for another quilt 5 years ago.. YES!! 5 years these squares were waiting to be sewn back together.
And last but not least, I have been in love with the giant churn dash block. I found the block on Moda Size Matters Blog Hop
This block is bigger than my sewing machine! I am really liking the idea of getting a baby quilt done in a few hours.
I am delighted to know I am not the only one with more than 1 W.I.P. If you hop over to freshlypieced. There are many more great projects in the works. Thank you for visiting. Amy

Not Much Going On

                                                       Hello from Houston Texas!

I have not been sewing too much. I am am enjoying the few weeks my husband has had time off. The days have been filled with  2 granddaughters and lots of swimming.
My oldest granddaughter needs a new quilt and she chose snacks.
The granddaughter is a big help in sorting stacks of pairs and stacking strips.
I am also working on a charm quilt. The top might get done by fall. The charms are a mix of Marmalade,Vintage Modern, Swell and Bake Shop.
It is hard to get sewing done when the grand babies want to spend every day at the pool.
Life is good!
May You have a blessed summer.
